New Session of OC Classes Begins June 2

A new session of OC Sunday Classes will begin June 2. OC Sunday classes are a great environment to connect with others while learning biblical truths and principles for life. New Family Series Begins May 12

Pastor Mike will begin a new series on the family beginning this Sunday, May 12. The series is called FAMILY FIXES. In the series, Pastor Mike will help us explore some important things we learn in the Bible that can help us improve and strengthen our marriages and families. We will talk about things like communication and dealing with conflict, clarifying roles and responsibilities, setting priorities and slowing down the pace of life, and how to choose the best life partner when considering getting married and starting a family. It is a series that can change your life (and the lives of those you love) and position you for an even greater marriage and stronger family. We hope you will join us for this special series. We also encourage you to invite someone to join you who could benefit from some help with their marriage or family.

National Day of Prayer Reminder

Thursday, May 2, is the National Day of Prayer. We encourage you to take some time on Thursday to pray for our nation, community, and church. CLICK HERE to download a prayer guide we have prepared for the day to assist you as you pray.

If you would like a quiet place to pray, we will have the church building unlocked from 7 a.m. – 9 p.m. You can feel free to pray in the sanctuary or in the prayer room. Enter through the front doors where the white pillars are located.

“Once Upon A Time Shop” Children’s Production This Weekend

Do you feel like you are always busy and on the go? Do you feel like time flies and do not even have time to breathe? We invite you to join us at the Otterbein Ministry Center gym at 7 p.m. on Saturday or Sunday evening (April 27-28) to see the Friendship Company (Otterbein Children’s Choir) present the musical Once Upon a Time Shop. The musical takes the audience back to the 1900s where orphans work for mean Miss Curmudgeon, a struggling clock shop owner. This inspiring Broadway-style musical explores love, forgiveness and the little time we have to give it and is sure to have a message for every person. Tickets are not required for this event, and admission is free.

Casey Bauer’s ministry friend is coming to OC

This Sunday, Jose Martinez is coming to Otterbein Church. Jose is an Honduran and a missionary to Bangladesh. But, more interesting, Jose is our Casey Bauer’s co-worker. In many ways Jose is mentoring Casey. Our Honduran team has become good friends with Jose. Along with Casey, Jose has escorted us to the remote villages in the Opalaca mountains in Honduras. Jose and Casey go to these villages that have never seen white people and open the door for us to go. Along with Casey, Jose is the one who has made it possible for us to minister in Rosario and be God’s tool for an indigenous church plant there.

Although Jose is not a global partner of OC, because of our involvement with him, we wanted you to meet him. We have a number of opportunities for you to do this.

This Sunday, April 21st at 9:20 a.m. Jose will be speaking in Bruce Anderson’s Sunday School Class. We’ll set up extra chairs so come and listen to his story. At 3:00 p.m. at Pastor Dirk’s home, 8297 Stottlemyer Rd, Waynesboro, we’ll have an open house for Jose. A casual time to meet and greet Jose.

210 Food Bags – Micah 6:8 Project

It was an awesome day on Friday for our church as we had the privilege to give out 210 bags of food that contained everything needed for an Easter meal. The bags included a 3 lb ham along with potatoes, sweet potatoes, vegetables fresh fruit, rolls, homemade cookies, Easter candy and more. We also included an invitation to the Easter Egg Hunt and our weekend services along with a special treat that helped people know how they could begin a relationship with Jesus.

We served around 300 people breakfast as they came to pick up their food bags. This allowed us the opportunity to greet them and be a blessing to them. We had many positive comments from our guests about how they were treated and how much the meals were a blessing to them.

Altogether we had about 175 volunteers that served either on Thursday night when we packed the food bags or on Friday morning as we handed them out and prepared and served the breakfast. Many more donated money and purchased items for the food bags prior to the event. All the extra food we had given or purchased will be donated to local agencies who help low income and shut ins in our community.

Way to go Otterbein for making a difference in our community!!! It was a great way for us to serve and live out Micah 6:8 which says “the Lord has told you what is good, and this is what he requires of you: to do what is right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.”
