We had an incredible Easter Season at Otterbein. It began with a special celebration on Palm Sunday weekend where we had 1520 people join us for worship services that included our choir, orchestra, children and youth choirs, and the children’s dance ministry. Our children’s ministry also did a Palm Sunday reenactment that included a live donkey. It was a great way to kick off the week.
Thursday evening we had a special communion service in the church sanctuary that focused on Jesus and his death on the cross.
Friday morning we handed out everything a family would need for an Easter Meal. Altogether, we gave bags of food to approximately 175 families. We also provided food for an additional 75 family to the Waynesboro Human Services that will be distributed following Easter. As people gathered to pick up their food, we served them breakfast. Approximately 300 people joined us for breakfast. It was an incredible day of ministry with more than 100 volunteers serving on the Friday and many more who served and gave financially to make the day a great success. Way to go Otterbein for making a difference in Jesus’ name in our local community.
On Saturday, families from our church and community gathered at the Otterbein Community Recreation Park on Welty Road for our Easter Egg Hunt. Our children’s ministry hosted the event that included 16,610 eggs and hundreds of kids. It was a great ministry opportunity for our church to serve our community and invite them to our church.
On Saturday evening and Sunday morning, we celebrated the risen Christ! What an incredible weekend of worship and celebration that was attended by close to 1400 people.
Thanks to all who served and to God for making Easter at Otterbein a special time of celebration!
