Orchestra

At various times throughout the year, but especially at Christmas and Easter, an orchestra is assembled to help us in our church’s celebration and worship of that particular season. This instrumental ensemble is open to anyone who has experience playing a string, brass, wind or percussion instrument at the 8th-grade level or above.

Many people have an instrument that they played years ago, but have not touched for a long time. The orchestra is an excellent reason to dust off that trumpet, clarinet or cello and rediscover the joy that comes with making beautiful music.

The orchestra accompanies the choir on selected anthems, accompanies the congregation in times of singing and presents stand-alone selections.

Anyone interested in joining the orchestra should contact Dave Besecker by calling him at church, 762-7147, or emailing him at
daveb@otterbeinchurch.org.

Rehearsals for the orchestra start about six weeks before the performance date. The dates and times, as well as music and recordings of the selections, are sent to orchestra members in advance of the first rehearsal. Members are expected to come to the first rehearsal prepared and already familiar with the music.

Instruments that help make up the orchestra include:
Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, Oboe, Violin, Viola, Cello, String Bass, Trumpet, French Horn, Trombone, Baritone, Tuba, Electric Bass, Electric Guitar, Acoustic Guitar, Synthesizer Percussion and/or Drum Set
